Farm Town is the popular game of the social networking website facebook. Farm Town is a free, flash-based game for social networking sites Facebook and MySpace. Recently, players of Farm Town game were targeted malware virus scam by a malicious advertising.
When IT security and data protection firm Sophos revealed that the site has been delivering ads tied with malware, immediately they give warning farm town players for scanning their computers.
SlashKey warned in a post to its user forum “If you suddenly get a warning that your computer is infected with viruses and you MUST run this scan now, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK, CLOSE THE WINDOW IMMEDIATELY”. “You should then run a full scan with your antivirus program to ensure that any stray parts of this malware are caught and quarantined.”
Farm Town is played by more than 9.6 million players monthly. The ad shows various nepwaarschuwingen(malware or spyware email) that infects the system of users. In the meantime hundreds of people have become the target of the attack. But many other users could innocently be affected by the scam.

“Third party ads appearing alongside the games with the game’s window are putting users at risk of infection by fake anti-virus alerts, designed to scam users out of their credit card details” according to the statement of Slashkey, that is Farm Town's developer.
Senior technology consultant at Sophos, Graham Cluley said “Poisoned ads show to be trickling onto their PCs from a third-party advertising network and also said that Farm Town game players are not all geeks, and might easily fall hard and fast for a bogus security warning – straight into the hands of hackers.”
Until the problem of the Farm Town malicious ads is resolved, my advice to game’s fans to stop playing the game.
