Home Surf MID from Binatone: Now in India at price of Rs 8,999

Binatone, one of UK’s biggest electronics company, has now launched a Touch Tablet mini PC, called “Home Surf MID” and available at a very affordable price of Rs 8,999 in India. The device is similar to the Apple iPad, sleek and slim.

Home Surf MID is an Android based device and powered by Google. It comes with exciting features such as Google Android 1.6 operating system, an 8 inch resistive touch screen, Wi-Fi, 2GB onboard storage, 128 MB RAM and is powered by an ARM 11 667 MHz processor. In Home Surf MID, internet access is available through Wi-Fi connection, while it does not have a 3G option.

According to Executive Vice President Binatone India, Mr. Sat Murthi, “We are committed to breaking the barriers of technology reaching the masses”. He had experimented that technology no longer commands a premium in the market place therefore Binatone continues its stride to offer the newest technology products at reasonable prices.

Sat Murthi said “Binatone plans to invest Rs 50 crores in the next 12 months in technology, product development and marketing. Our products are specifically “Indianised” with special features like “Audio boost”, “Power saver” and “Binatone Zone”, which all have been carefully market researched and implemented to address the specific Indian needs.”

He also added: “Binatone is also bringing in low cost 3G handsets by the end of the year to cater to the deployment of newer technologies in India.”

Binatone’s Home Surf touch tablet will compete with the higher end OlivePad Tablet, launched by Olive Telecom last month. However Binatone focuses on customers who wish to enjoy the experience of owning a tablet at an affordable price. The Home Surf table is available for price of as low as Rs 9,000 compared to OlivePad’s Rs 23,000.

It is expected the Binatone’s Home Surf touch tablet become available in the Indian market soon. By the price, this is considered as cheapest Android Tablet device in the market.

Mr. Dino Lalvani, Chairman of Binatone Communications Group said, “This is the first of its kind in India. To reinforce this excitement it will be aggressively priced at Rs 8,995 in retail. Home Surf Touch Tablet, with its ultra slim design can access the internet on wifi. The battery operated device can retain its charge for several hours in video, web browsing, and many other applications for daily use. Binatone is planning to invest 50 crores in the next months in these products.”

He said “India deserves the best of technologies in communication and we at Binatone with our 50 years experience will harness the latest in innovative technologies and bring them to market affordably. Our India software team based out of Bangalore is always exploring newer technologies and our collaboration with semi conductor partners helps us to work on cost effective solutions, given our economies of scale which is supported by our global reach.”

Home Surf MID from Binatone is the third Android tablet, after the Infibeam Phi and Olivepad VT100 in India.
