JMET 2011 Notification - Joint Management Entrance Test 2011 Dates

JMET (Joint Management Entrance Test) Exam is conducted every year for admission into the 2-year fulltime post graduate degree programs in Management and for 2010 this exam will be conducted on 12th December between 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs by administration of IIT Delhi. This is the first step for the admission into the postgraduate degree programs in Management offered by IITs. Interested candidates can apply online at gate.iitd.ac.in from 6th September, 2010 to 8th October, 2010.

Commencement of submission of data for ONLINE Application : Monday 6th September, 2010

Last date for submission of Application Form

Submission data for Online Application (website closure): Friday, 8th October, 2010 (6.00pm)
Last Date for mailing the admit cards: Friday, 12th November, 2010
Date of Examination: Sunday, 12th December, 2010
Announcement of JMET 2011 Results : Monday, 3rd January, 2010

Application Fee : 350/- for SC/ST/PD and 750/- for all other candidates.

Currently, Institutes offering the programs in management are IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee. Candidates will be required to appear in single paper of three hours duration and the question paper will be in English only. Entrance exam will be test of English, Aptitude/ Reasoning, and Basic Mathematics. The question paper will include only objective type questions. There will be negative marking for wrong answers which is deduction for 25% of the allotted marks.

The eligibility criteria for admission are different in various Institutes. After qualifying in first round, students have to fill applications for specific colleges, which then shortlist candidates and call them for counseling. Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) for candidates looking for admission will be held at the respective Institutes.

The profiles of different schools / departments are as follows:

IIT Bombay: Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management
Eligibility: Candidates must be passed bachelor degree in engineering or Master's degree in Science with first class or 60% marks in aggregate (all years/semesters put together) or minimum CGPI of 6.5 out of 10 are eligible to apply. M.S.C candidates must have 60% in bachelor's as well as in M.Sc. degree. Qualifying degree of candidates with M.Tech. would be B.Tech./B.E. only. There is a recreation of 5% in marks or equal in CGPI for SC/ST candidates.

IIT Delhi : Department of Management Studies
Eligibility : Candidates with minimum 60% marks in total or 6.75/10 CGPA in Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering/ Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy/Agriculture Engg. (minimum 4 years after 10+2) or Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science, Agriculture, Commerce, Economics are eligible to apply.

IIT Madras : Department of Management Studies
Eligibility: Candidates must be passed B.E./ B.Tech. or Master's degree or equivalent with first class from well-known Institution or University are eligible to apply.

IIT Kanpur : Department of Industrial & Management Engineering
Eligibility :  A Bachelor's degree in any branch of engineering or technology (AICTE approved) from a University/Institute with at least 60% of marks or grade point average of 6.0 on a scale of 10.0 in total based on average over entire programme. Candidates with Architecture degree can apply - offered they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level. SC/ST candidates who qualify JMET and pass the basic qualifying degree as above are eligible to apply irrespective of marks / CPI in the qualifying degree examination.

IIT Kharagpur : Vinod Gupta School of Management 
Eligibility : A candidate who has either secured or is likely to secure a first class Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a first class Master's degree in Science or a first class Master's degree in Economics or Commerce is eligible for admission.

IIT Roorkee : Department of Management Studies
Eligibility: Candidates must be passed bachelor’s degree or a master's degree in any discipline of Engineering/Technology with first class from recognized Institute/University with at least 60% marks for General & OBC category candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates in aggregate or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale for General & OBC category candidates and 5.50 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST category candidates are eligible to apply.
