The tablet arena is becoming more and more competitive day by day as different manufacturers are entering various tablets in market with many developed configurations. Recently Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablets have been launched from two chief companies, Micromax and HCL. Micromax unveiled the Funbook and HCL launched the MyEdu Tablets. And now, one another Indian company, Karbonn has thrown its hat in the low cost Android ICS tablet market with a launch of Karbonn Smart Tab 1.
As said above, Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Operating System. It is packed with a dual core 1.2GHz Processor with 512MB RAM. This latest Karbonn slate sports a 7.0-inch capacitive Multi Touch LCD display, which facilitates you to view the contents with an impressive clarity. This display bears a 5-point multi-touch feature and a 480 x 800 pixels resolution. As far as the camera feature is considered, previously it was speculated that ST1 will be packed with a 5.0 MP rear shooter but it was the rumor only. It only sports a 2.0 MP front-facing camera and features 720p video recording together with HD video playback at 1080p.
Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is embedded with a user accessible internal memory of 8GB that can be extended up to 32GB via Micro SD Card. When it comes to the connectivity, the slate offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, HDMI, 3G, GPS and WAP data connectivity. The tab is provided with various apps including Play Store, Office Editor, YouTube, Social Networking, Adobe Flash, Think Free Office, Google Maps, Email along with Instant messaging, Gtalk, MSN/Skype and much more. It has a High Speed Data Support together with a lot of other advanced features.
Besides the above stated specs, Karbonn Smart Tab 1 is packed with various sensors such as Accelerometer, G-Sensor and Proximity Sensor. As well, it bears 3G3D G-Sensor for Gaming Experience. The other usual configurations such as FM Radio with recording, Multi Format Music Player, a 3.5 mm jack and Built-in Speakers are also included. The tablet packs a 3700 mAh Li-Ion Standard battery, which delivers a battery life of 7 hours for Internet surfing, 8 hours for video playback using earphones and 25 hours for music playback.
Regrettably, there is no news regarding the price range of the Karbonn ST 1 but it is speculated that it will continue the low-pricing trend of Indian vendors. The tab should be priced below Rs 10,000.
