Hyundai, the second largest car manufacturer of India has announced the diesel variant of Hyundai i10. Hyundai i10 has been one of the best selling small cars in India. With the increasing petrol prices in the country, the buyers are attracted more towards the diesel cars. So, the company is in the process of developing the Hyundai i10 diesel version. The price of the new Hyundai i10 diesel is expected to be between 4.2 Lakh to Rs. 5.5 Lakh. The company will be launching the car by the mid of 2012.

At present, there is no much information available about the diesel engine but it is expected that there would be a 1.1L and 1.4L CRDI engines with 5/6 manual and automatic transmission, which will provide a better performance on roads. The engine is capable of producing maximum power of 90 BHP at 4000 RPM and a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1750-2750 RPM. The expected mileage of the car is over 20 KM per litre of Diesel, which seems to be very impressive as it will make use of the new innovative technology under the hood. The Hyundai cars are now designed on the basis of aerodynamic concept.
The car is expected to be equipped with safety features like Electrically Adjustable ORVMs, Dual Front Airbags, Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Seat Belt Warning, Parking Sensors, Door Ajar Warning, Sun Roof, inbuilt Reverse sensor, Keyless Entry, etc. With all these loaded features and fuel economical diesel engine, the car is expected to give a solid competition to cars like Renault Pulse, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Ritz and Tata Indica Vista in terms of performance. The features of a petrol car will not be available in a diesel car. So, if the person is cost conscious and travels less then he/she must prefer the Hyundai i10 Diesel.
