Renault, the French car manufacturer, has launched their latest model named Renault Scala in India. The company has launched five cars in India till now, and they are Fluence, Duster, Koleos, Pulse and last but not the least the Scala. Scala is a redesigned model of Nissan Sunny. Though Scala is compared to Nissan in terms of design, Renault has given more stylish look to the car so that it would be appeared unique. The car will compete against sedans like Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Verna and Toyota Etios.
Design
Scala has been renovated in Mumbai at the Renault Design house. It has got a huge hexagonal grille on the front with chrome-plated bars. The car sports stylish alloy wheels and chrome beading close to the glasshouse. At rear, there is a white strip near the tail lights that joins across the boot lid to make the car look attractive. The name SCALA is magnificently imprinted on the chrome strip. The car will receive a better facelift with eye-catching grille & bumper, revamped tail lights and amazing Renault logo.
Engine
The Renault Scala is offered in five variants among them three are petrol variants - RXL, RXE and RXL Automatic and two diesel variants – RXZ and RXL. The petrol models are equipped with 1.5-litre engine that produces 134Nm of torque and 99bhp. The RXE model gets a five speed manual transmission whereas the RXL model sports an alternative gearbox. The diesel variants are equipped with 1.5-litre K9K that delivers 200Nm of torque and 85bhp. Unfortunately, the diesel variants do not feature an automatic transmission. The petrol version delivers an approximate mileage of 16.95kmpl while the diesel version delivers around 21.64kmpl.
Interior
The interior of the car is very luxurious and stylish. The car features power windows, central locking, power steering and high quality fabric used for draping the seats. The driver’s seat can be adjusted manually. Scala is spacious enough to carry five passengers. The rear seats of the car are outfitted with cup holders and armrests. There is an integrated Mp3/CD player with four speakers along with USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Audio controls are built on power steering that facilitates better control over the vehicle even while operating the audio controls. The car also features an automatic AC control for the back seat passengers. Renault also has a huge amount of boot space to store the luggage.
Safety features
Scala comes loaded with spectacular safety features. There are disk brakes on the front & drum brakes at rear along with a parking sensor. The car has both anti-lock braking system and electronic brake distribution system. It has dual SRS airbags especially for the co-passenger and the driver on the front. The fog lamps are outfitted in the front to ensure that the driver doesn’t face any problem while driving even in terrific weather conditions.
