Tokyo's big scale city marathon, the Tokyo Marathon 2012 is planned to take place on February 26, 2012. The race will be started from the Metropolitan Government building in Shinjuku and will be ended at the Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba. The attractively planned route goes by some Tokyo's main tourist spots such as Tokyo Tower, the Imperial Palace, Asakusa and Ginza. In February, the weather of Japan is also great with a mean of 7 degrees C that is ideal for a good run. The Tokyo Marathon race 2012 contains two events such as a marathon race and a 10 kilometer race.

A marathon race will start with about 32,000 participants (men, women, wheelchair men, and Wheelchair Women, who are 19 years old or older) and a 10 kilometer race will start with approximately 3,000 participants (Men and Women at the age of 16 to 18 years, including visually impaired and mentally disabled athletes, and wheelchair users). Marathon will start from Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and pass through Iidabashi, Imperial Palace, Hibiya, Shinagawa, Ginza, Nihonbashi, Asakusa Kaminari-mon, Tsukiji, Toyosu and end to Tokyo Big Sight.
10 KM race will start from Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building and pass through Iidabashi, Imperial Palace and complete to Hibiya Park. A variety of festivities and events such as Tokyo Marathon Expo in the Tokyo Big Sight complex goes together with this marathon race. Applicant for the 2012 race can apply from 1st August 2011 at 10am. Applicants’ mail will be reached before 5 pm on 31st August 2011. Applicant will be selected by lottery system in mid October 2011 to participate in this race. Information about the race will be mailed to participants in late January 2012.
