The consumer electronics industry's yearly trek to Las Vegas for the world's biggest trade show in North America is around the corner. In the electronics industry, everyone is trying to give their best foot onward with the promise of things to come. The massive Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that will be held in Las Vegas on January 10-13, 2012 would most likely be adequate to attract lots of people to see the newest and utmost in consumer and business technology showed in incredibly hectic week. This week is sure to be a tornado of press conferences, demos, announcements and new gear a-plenty.

One of the largest venues to showcase the innovations done in technology is an annual exhibition of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012; out of these innovations the market is anticipated during the coming year. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, one thing is clear i.e. the largest players at the conference will be a company that has made it last appearance, at least on stage and one that isn’t there at all. Mobile devices will figure prominently at the giant CES consumer-electronics fete with exciting innovative products and services from tablet and smartphone makers, application developers and network operators. Let's have a look at the top and upcoming Gadgets & Technologies that are expected to come in CES 2012.

Upcoming Gadgets & Technologies in CES 2012

Quad-Core Tablets

During 2011, bulk of tablets arrived in the tablet market with dual-core processors in the range of 1-GHz to 1.5-GHz. To expand the capabilities of their silicon, chip have worked hard and quad-core processors are on the horizon (consider the Nvidia Tegra 3). So, we should expect at least a few quad-core tablets at the CES 2012.

Phones and Tablets with Android 4.0

We already have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. Samsung Galaxy Nexus is a capable smartphone and its operating system, Android 4.0 symbolizes a major jump forward in usability for the Google's smartphone operating system. Many smartphone manufacturers have committed to modernize their existing smartphone products with the latest software or operating system from Google; however those updates are months away. Meanwhile, we can see new gear running Ice Cream Sandwich hit the CES landing strip. Acer, Motorola, HTC, Samsung, Huawei, Sony Ericsson, and other companies need to begin the year right with the latest software or Android 4.0 hardware.

4G Windows Phones

Microsoft's Windows Phone platform has faced the biggest failings due to the lack of support for 4G technologies like Long Term Evolution. At the CES, Microsoft needs to go further than mere saying "it's coming." Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer needs to announce when 4G support is coming to Windows Phone. Additionally, Windows Phone 7 hardware manufacturers have to boast new WP7 smartphones including HSPA+, LTE, or WiMax support. Windows Phone will never be capable to contend with Android without 4G.

New Generation TVs and 3-D without Glasses

More-powerful processors, improved software, and added apps will be on board with the new generation of connected TVs, as per the reports. The Seattle Times reported that the newer set-top boxes and TV sets could be handled by tablets and smartphones as remote controls and auxiliary displays as well. The CES 2012 is also anticipated to unveil 3-D sets without glasses. Entertainment systems with gesture and voice control are also among the much-anticipated devices. The show is likely to reveal the big-screen OLED TV sets with ultra sharp and thicker displays.

More LTE 4G Devices

Verizon made announcement of nine new LTE devices at CES 2011 for its then-burgeoning 4G network. So at CES 2012, LTE 4G may announce the most smartphones and tablets. Verizon would not be the only network operator carrying LTE gear to the CES fete this year. AT&T’s lineup of LTE devices is certain to expand including more tablets, smartphones, hotspots and modems.

Smart Home

At CES, enhanced energy management system for home will be introduced, using gadgets such as thermostats which can be controlled remotely via smartphones and browsers. Verizon had begun offering a Motorola system for monitoring energy and cameras remotely in the house, which was showcased at the CES last year. Additionally, there will be also some online fitness products, doorknobs and health-care systems that can be unlocked, as reported by The Seattle Times. All these products will be previewed in a model home, named the "NextGen Energy Miser Home", produced by Bellevue.
