World smile day, a commercial artist Harvey Ball from Worcester, Massachusetts created the international smiley face in 1963. The image became the most identifiable symbol of goodwill and good cheer on the planet. Harvey Ball became concerned about the over-commercialization of his created smiley symbol, as the years passed.
Harvey Ball thought that one day in each year should devote to smiles and kind acts throughout the world, he declared that the first Friday in October each year would be world Smile day. The Foundation persists as the official sponsor of World Smile Day® every year. The Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation was formed to honor his name and memory, after his death in 2001.
People receive emails and letters from one another around the world. They informed each other about events which they organized and they planned to observe on this day. People are thinking now that how to celebrate a World Smile day, like the other days are celebrated such as rose day, valentine day, doctor day…etc in schools offices and colleges, those are considered as "World Smile Day Ambassadors". Every one can be an Ambassador by making people aware of World Smile Day with its purpose and message.
The image of Smile for this day is "Do an act of kindness. Help one person smile." It guides the way on this day is the smiley face. To mark this day, Organize events to mark the day at school, work, with your organization or personally. Those people who perform acts of kindness everyday recognize them. A smile is come by flexing the muscles around the mouth. Some people this spreads to those around the eyes too. Generally it is an expression of pleasure and happiness when humans do it but sometime it can be a symbol of stress.
